What does LaMal reimburse ?
Under certain circumstances, LaMal can approve and reimburse some natural therapies.
Condition : The therapy has to be practiced by a doctor, and not only a therapist. It significantly reduces the choice as it is not often the case.
Only 5 therapies approved by the LAMal :
Acupuncture, anthropomorphic medicine, chinese medicine, classic homeopathy and phytotherapie.
There are some ways to be more freely reimbursed (natural therapists and not doctors) with a list of around 60 natural therapies instead of 5. The solution is to have a good additional insurance. But how to choose it?

What does LAMal reimburse ?
Under certain circumstances, LaMal can approve and reimburse some natural therapies.

How can I get reimbursed ?
First, you need to have additional insurance. Then, you need to check how this insurance takes over the different natural therapies. Indeed, certain insurances reimburse ASCA therapists, and others RME therapists.
In some cases, the company will reimburse the two of them, or have their own list. It is important to be advised on it.
Once chosen, the insurance will reimburse you for various natural therapies. You will have to pay the bill first, and send it to the company to be reimbursed. Here again, the choice of company is important with regards to the speed of reimbursement.

ASCA or RME, how to choose ?

These are kind of the trainer associations of the different therapists. They certify the care quality and training, and moreover will allow you to be reimbursed or not depending on the therapies.
Insurance companies decided to approve one or the other of these associations. Sometimes, some companies approve both, but it is not common.
Indeed, the choice is important because of the fact that even if the therapy is reimbursed, the therapist can not be, or the contrary.
We recommend to select the therapists you have been advised or who interest you, and check if they are ASCA or RME.

The annual roofs for reimbursements are also different. If some companies limit the coverage to a few hundreds of francs per year, it is unlimited in others.
Can I consult abroad ?
Additional natural therapy insurances do not cover abroad. Indeed, the therapist has to be approved by the company and be ASCA or RME.
Can I be refused ?
It is unfortunately very common. If you are used to receiving care from natural therapies and ask for additional coverage afterward, it is very likely that you will be refused. Additional coverage is under private laws and it is the company that decides depending on the financial risk.
We recommend getting good coverage when you are not yet in treatment to be at peace in the future.
